What is your name?
My name is Yonathan Orellana Garufi.

What are you working with/as?
I´m a student of 14 years old.

Do you have a motto or any catchwords?
My catchword is power and courage.

When did you start kettlebell training? Why and how did you start?
I started to do it 2 ½ years ago with my father. I started to do kettlebell lifting for improving my performance and for adding some muscles at my bones :)

Maybe more interesting, why did you continue doing it?
I want to continue to do kettlebell lifting to become a great girevichi and take a title of misc (master of sport international class) one day.

Have you entered any competitions?
I have taken part 4 times in Italian championships, results 1st place in every one of them.
One of them in a junior class with 12kg, doing 90 reps long cycle, and 16kg biathlon first time 121 reps jerk and 187 snatch, also 110 reps of long cycle with 16kg and after did 157 jerks and 201 snatches with 16kg.

What/which are your personal goals in training? (long-term/short-term?)
I would like to do a CMS (Candidate master of sport) title in long cycle with 24kg within 2016 and repeat the same results with 32kg in the next future.

Which discipline do you like most and why? What do you think is the most challenging?
I love biathlon but for the moment I´m concentrating on long cycle. But certainly biathlon is more hard because it is the double time to do: 10′ of jerk plus 10′ of snatch.

Do you have any training tips to share?
I think as advice that it is better to train with a light weight for high reps on high pace on the minute than train with a great weight (kts) at slow pace… because train slowly with high weights make you slow and not fast as a light weight. So I think that everybody can train himself with light weights on high reps on the minute and do many explosive  moments for legs like jumpsquat and high jump every week for improving speedness and agility.

Who (or whay) inspires you?
I’m inspired from Rudnev’s principles of training and I follow that principles in my schedule of training and from oleg ilika about his advices on my technique too.

Which exercise is your favourite?
Jerk is the movement that I love and prefer.

Have you got some exercise that you hate doing? Which one and why is that?
I do everytime full squat on high reps but I don’t like it too much, hahaha, because it is too much pain in my legs, hahaha :)

How do you eat? Do you have a special diet or a food-philosophy?
I’m a good fork, hahaha, so I eat a lot of many foods every day without following a diet. I have not a special diet but I take a natural supplement before my training: Cacao and honey in hot water, this gives me a lot of energy during my training.

What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not ”kettlebelling”?
When I’m not ”kettlebelling” I love to play at PSP and play soccer with my friends.

I must thank my many friends who always give me good advices of GS and with who I share our experiences of training. They are Oleg Ilika, Artem Gnatusin, Rudnev Sergey, Fredrik Berglund, Oleg Narkov, Roman Karpenko, Andrea Deidda, Francesco Rigoli, Alessia Comini, Mattia Amodio, Fedirco Messinas, Carlo Fuccia, Pietro Barberino and Patricio Dietz and many others but especially my father who follow me very patiently during my trainings every day.

And we say thank you so much Yonathan, for letting us interview you and for sharing with us. If you want to see this talented young man doing what he love to do you have to watch his videos, click here to watch him lifting his first 100 jerks with 2x20kg.
